DMT Combined People Excel File

DMT Combined People Excel File

The Combined People file shows how every Person c who matches with Person a, also matches with all the Person b people.

This file is sort of like the "In Common With" information that FamilyTreeDNA and other DNA services provide. But it tells you a lot more, including whether or not there are Double Matches and Triangulations and on which Chromosome. If you find good ways to use this data, please let me know and I'll document it here.

a-b and a-c Matches

1. a-b and a-c Matches

Person a is shown in column A (NAME-A).

All the Person c people that Person a matches to are shown in Column B (NAME-C).

The first lines contain the people used as the Person b people for the Double Matches, ordered by highest total a-c Single Match length in cM (TOTAC).  In the above example, Person a was Double Matched with the first 3 people. These people are designated by having an entry in column C (COL-B) highlighted in yellow which gives the column number where that person B's match information is shown.

These lines are followed by a thick black horizontal line.

Then all the other c people are listed, ordered by Status (Full Triangulation first, Missing a-b Matches second, and No Double Matches), and then within Status type, by highest total a-c Single Match length in cM (TOTAC).

Status

2. Status

Column D (STATUS) indicates how Persons a and c match with the b people. The Status can be:
indicates that Person a, c and at least one of the b people Triangulate on at least one segment.
indicates that Person a, c and at least on of the b people Double Match on at least one segment, but don't Triangulate.
indicates that Person a and c do not Double Match with any of the c people.

Double Match and Triangulated Segments

3. Double Match and Triangulated Segments

Column E (DMNSEG) gives the number of segments that Double Match with all the Person b people, meaning Person a and Person c's matching segments correspond to any Person b and Person c's matching segments.

Column F (TRNSEG) gives the number of segments that Triangulate with all the Person b people, which means that in addition to Double Matching, Person a also matches the same Person b on the segment When this number is greater than 0, it is shown in green to emphasize that there are Full Triangulations for Person c with a and at least one Person b.

A Triangulation is also a Double Match, so the Triangulation number is included in the Double Match number.

a-c Match Information

4. a-c Match Information

Columns G through AG contains Single Match information for Person a and Person c.

Column G (NUMAC), H (TOTAC), I (MAXAC) and J (XTOTAC) shows the number of segments matching between Person a and Person c, their total match length in cM, the largest matching segment length in cM, and the total match length on the X Chromosome.

Columns K (AC1) through column AG (ACX) show the largest segment that single matches between Person a and Person c on each Chromosome pair from 1 to 22 as well as X (sometimes referred to as 23).

If a-c Triangulate on that Chromosome with any of the b People, then the largest length in cM of any Triangulating segment is prefixed by the letter "T" and is shown in green so it can be easily picked out, e.g.

If a-c does not Triangulate on that Chromosome, but does Double Match, then the largest length in cM of any Double Matching segment  is prefixed by the letter "D", e.g.

X Chromosome matches will be shown in column AG (ACX) with red text and the prefix after the letter "T" or "D" will be "X", e.g. or

Double Match Info with each Person b

5. Double Match Info with each Person b

Columns AH and on contain all the Person b's who were each Double Matched with person A. The columns show how they match to each row's Person a and Person c. Similar to the Columns K to AG segment matches, the number shown is the maximum length of any Person a and Person c segment that Double Matches with Person b and Person c.

The letter "T" indicates that Person a, b and c fully Triangulate on at least one segment and is highlighted in green and the length is the largest Person a and Person c matches that Triangulates.

The letter "D" indicates that there is at least one Double Match and gives the length.

The letter "X" indicates there is at least one Double Match on the X Chromosome and the text is shown in red. The length shown is not necessarily that of the X match, but is the length of the largest Triangulation or Double Match.

Entries that are blank indicate that there are no Double Matches (i.e. no a-c matches overlap with any b-c matches). Entries with "----" are where the Person b of the column is the same as the person of the row.
